Vacation days = glory days

Big day! Really big day. Where to begin?

1. We finished out bathroom revamp. It all started last week with a trip to Urban Ore. We've had dated mirrors in our bathrooms since we moved in. They're probably from the late 80s when the bathrooms were re-done, and while they were functional they weren't awesome. The first plan was to buy an old window and insert a mirror, but at Urban Ore we found an old dresser framed mirror a la early 1970s. The wood matched our bathroom cabinet perfectly and the price was right: $28. A cut mirror the same size would have run $65. Nice savings! The second step was to flip the light fixture so the lamps shine up and don't block the mirror. This was key for the tall person in the home. The last piece was buying some new towels in colors that matched the flooring. So long greens and blues and pinks from our wedding registry. Hello tan and grey. In all, we spent about $100 to spruce up the bathroom. And it's awesome! Like a spa.

New mirror and lights facing up. I swear it makes the bathroom ceilings seem higher.

2. Reason #2789 we love our neighborhood: our across the street neighbor's son saw us starting to scrub the ivy off the front of the house and told us he had a far faster and easier method. Hello, pressure washer. He came by today to not only loan us the pressure washer but also complete the pressure washing job. The ivy was gone in less than 15 minutes and now the area around the garage (area where the crazy ivy once lived) is ready for painting. Yah!

3. Reason #2790: Jacques' owners invited Riddle over for a playdate. Jacques is Riddle's favorite dog, so when the two were playing outside, Hannah said we should just leave Riddle in her yard so the two could play. So we did. For 30 minutes they barked and pranced and played. Then Riddle sat by the fence and barked, calling us to come get her. But we know she has fun.

4. Reason #2791: our other across the street neighbor brought over stucco patch after the power washing was over. He knew we had a few holes to patch, and he had exactly what we needed. Seriously, did we move to Mayberry?

5. Went for a good walk/hike with friends (pooped out Riddle so much Jamie had to carry her for the last half mile), ventured to pilates, and otherwise had fun just doing stuff.  Tomorrow's our big night out in the city. We have both dinner plans and plans to see a play. Yup, we're big time and we're adults. It's kind of fun.

Ho! Ho! Ho! in just a few days ...
