The end or the beginning?

Our mini-vacation is over and we step back into teaching life tomorrow. We are refreshed. We are rejuvenated. We are ready. We have been blessed ten times over these past few weeks. We've have time to ourselves, with each other, with Riddle, with friends. We've shared amazing meals, plenty of naps, laughter, late morning sleep-ins, and more. And we've been reminded of just how much we enjoy our work as teachers. So many folks step back into the first few days of school with dread and dismay. Not us. We can't wait to see our students and colleagues, can't wait to get back into the swing of things. Sure the stress levels will rise and the rosy glow of vacation will fade ... but only a bit.

Some highlights from our break:
1. Tasting menu at Michael Mina. One of the best meals we've ever had. Ever.
2. Spending time with Riddle. We've had her for almost six months and she's finally convinced we're her people. We also know how lazy she is and how much sleep she gets. She puts us to shame in the sleep department.
3. Having our first, full-sized tree. It's still up! It still smells glorious.
4. Getting to know our bikes again. This fall took us on trails but by foot. This break brought us back to the road (and trails for Jamie) but on our bikes. It's a good recovery from all those running miles.

The alarm will come a little too early in the morning, but we can't wait!
